The 36th annual Mattoon Arts Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Springfield, Massachusetts. The outdoor arts and crafts show is held on a quaint street of restored brick Victorian rowhouses. Reputed to be one of the nicest street fairs in New England, it is organized by neighborhood volunteers to raise funds for maintaining and enhancing the area. The Festival also includes a few food vendors. Attendance averages 4,000 people.
Only works created by an exhibitor may be sold. An application should include three slides or color photographs of your work and one of your work space (not your booth) and an entry fee of $125. Prompt refund of the fee will be made to applicants who are not accepted. No refunds will be made after acceptance.
Registration includes $5 worth of food coupons good with our food vendors. First and second place prizes of $50 and $25 are awarded in each of eight judging categories. Ten-foot by ten-foot exhibit spaces on our brick sidewalks can be accessed by car for easy set-up and break-down. Many spaces are tree-shaded. Non-amplified, strolling musicians entertain daily.
Feel free to call evenings at (413) 736-0629 or email bobmccarroll@juno.com with any questions. We hope you will consider being one of the artists and artisans to exhibit with us in September.
